CD Projekt RED, the developer behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk series, has outlined an ambitious roadmap for the series’ future. Starting with the highly anticipated The Witcher 4, the studio plans to complete the new trilogy in just six years. This means three new Witcher games will be released consecutively within six years.
The Witcher series will expand
To maintain this rapid production pace, the studio has abandoned its previous engine for Unreal Engine. Company management has made it clear that this radical change will allow for the release of a significantly larger number of games than in the past. CD Projekt RED will complete this three-game series by releasing sequels after The Witcher 4 three years apart.

This ambitious goal was first announced by the studio’s management in 2022. While some interpreted this statement at the time as a public relations move highlighting the ease of use offered by the new engine, management has now revived the same plan, demonstrating its seriousness.
While no firm release date has yet been announced, information for The Witcher 4 suggests a 2027 release date. This reveals the six-year development period between CD Projekt RED’s previous game, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Witcher 4.
The studio, which required more than six years for the first installment, is quite striking in its goal of completing the next two installments in three-year intervals. Accordingly, The Witcher 5 will be released three years after the fourth installment’s release in 2027, and the final installment in the series three years after that.
