Google has officially announced the dates for its annual developer conference, Google I/O 2025, which will take place on May 20-21, 2025, at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California. The opening keynote is expected to take place on the first day, where Google will unveil major advancements in artificial intelligence, Android, and other products.
Last year, Google introduced significant updates, including Gemini AI, the Android platform, and Project Astra at I/O 2024. The company also showcased Gemini Live, an interactive AI experience. This year, more developments in the Gemini ecosystem are anticipated.
The event coincides with Microsoft’s Build Conference, which is scheduled to be held from May 19-22, 2025, in Seattle, Washington. Given the competitive landscape in AI and software development, both companies are expected to announce their latest AI-driven innovations and software platforms.
Some of the key announcements expected at Google I/O 2025 include:
- The next version of Google Gemini
- Updates on Project Astra
- The introduction of Android 16
- A first look at upcoming Pixel devices
- Potential advancements in Veo, Google’s generative video technology
- New features for Google Photos and G-Suite
Google has been rolling out continuous updates to Gemini AI, including Gemini 2.0 and Gemini 2.0 Flash, to stay competitive against OpenAI, Microsoft, and DeepSeek. More updates related to Gemini, Android, and other Google products are expected before the main event on May 20, 2025.
Additionally, there is speculation that Google may unveil the Pixel 9a ahead of the conference.
The event will be livestreamed on Google’s official YouTube channel, with smaller developer-focused sessions also available online.
