Google is revolutionizing visual search for iOS users. The company has introduced a powerful new feature for its Lens tool, allowing users to search for on-screen content instantly within Chrome and the Google app—no screenshots or extra tabs needed.
Lens Screen Search for iOS Chrome and Google App coming!
In Chrome for iOS, users can now access this tool through the three-dot menu by selecting “Search Screen with Google Lens.” Google promises an even smoother experience soon by placing a dedicated Lens icon directly in the browser’s address bar. This update follows last year’s desktop Chrome rollout, making it easier to conduct seamless searches without disrupting browsing.
The Google app on iOS is also getting a major boost. Users can initiate screen searches by tapping the three-dot menu and selecting “Search this Screen.” The feature enhances the browsing experience by letting users draw, highlight, or tap specific areas for instant Lens-powered searches. Whether reading an article, shopping, or watching a video, users can now get relevant information without leaving their current screen.
AI Overviews expanding Lens’ AI-powered search capabilities
Google is not stopping there. The company is expanding Lens’ AI-powered search capabilities with AI Overviews, making visual searches even smarter. This feature will generate more frequent AI-driven explanations in Lens search results. Users no longer need to type specific questions—Lens will provide detailed insights on objects, places, or images instantly. With these updates, Google aims to enhance Lens’ ability to recognize and analyze unfamiliar visuals more accurately.
The screen search feature is rolling out worldwide this week for iOS users in Chrome and the Google app. AI Overviews, however, will first launch for English-speaking users in select regions through the Google app on Android and iOS. Support for Chrome on desktop and mobile will arrive soon.
Google continues to push boundaries with AI-powered search tools. These new Lens features bring seamless, intuitive search experiences directly to iPhone users, making visual discovery faster than ever before.
