According to information shared by independent cybersecurity researcher Wladimir Palant, these extensions contain Trojan horses and inject a JavaScript code into web pages. This allows them to redirect you to a fake website and meticulously record everything you type on your keyboard. According to Palant, they can even perform more dangerous actions.
The shared list by the cybersecurity expert includes popular extensions used by millions of people such as PDF Toolbox, Crystal Ad Block, Easy Undo Closed Tabs, and Base Image Downloader.

The cybersecurity expert mentioned that they inspected the source code of PDF Toolbox after it requested access to Chrome tabs and discovered that it was malicious. They then noticed that other extensions attempted to acquire data using the same method. Additionally, they found 1,000 more extensions that operate under the same algorithm but did not disclose them.
