Google has announced Gemini for Government, an AI platform specifically developed for government agencies. With this step, the company is increasing market competition while offering AI to the public sector at an almost nominal cost.
Gemini for Government is launching
The platform combines Google’s existing solutions. This suite includes NotebookLM, advanced search, video, and image production tools. It also includes ready-made AI agents for research and idea development. Agencies can use these ready-made agents or design custom AI agents tailored to their needs.

Security and privacy are key elements of the platform. Google is providing additional layers of security for Gemini for Government. The solution also complies with cloud security standards such as Sec4 and FedRAMP.
The most talked-about aspect of this platform is its price. Google is offering it to government agencies for just $0.50 per year. This price is being considered a direct counterpoint to OpenAI and Anthropic’s recent $1 government contracts. Additional paid options are also available for those who demand more advanced security features.
Google’s move coincides with the Artificial Intelligence Action Plan announced by US President Donald Trump in July. This plan aims to make AI an exportable asset, increase federal investment in this field, and eliminate “ideological biases.”
