Hema Budaraju, vice president of product management for Google Search, stated that this expansion demonstrates the advancement of the company’s Gemini AI models. Budaraju stated that Gemini’s natural language understanding and multimodal capabilities allow users to ask their questions in the most natural and easy way. She also added that the AI mode deeply understands the nuances of local languages and that more languages and regions will be added in the near future.
So, what exactly is this AI mode? This feature allows users to synthesize search results and receive conversational answers to a wide range of questions, from simple ones (“What was the weather like today?”) to the most complex ones (“What were the effects of the 2001 economic crisis?”). Users can access this feature via a button located on the right side of the search bar on the Google homepage or on the left side of the top menu of other Google pages.
AI mode allows users to query using text, voice, and even photos. For example, you can upload a landscape photo and ask where it was taken. Similarly, you can request visuals from AI as a response. You can receive visual-based responses with a command like “Show me photos of the most beautiful beaches in Antalya.” This feature can also enhance shopping queries, providing users with lists of where to buy certain products.
