Google has added a remarkable feature for children to its AI-powered chatbot, Gemini. This new tool, called “Storybook,” allows users to create illustrated children’s stories simply by providing a short story description.
Google Gemini begins reading stories
Gemini not only presents the stories it creates in written form but can also be read aloud. The feature is available on both desktop and mobile devices and is accessible in all Gemini-supported languages, including Turkish.

Storybook operates in a 10-page short story format. Each page contains a paragraph of text and an illustration. Users can specify the style in which they want the story to be illustrated. Different aesthetic preferences are supported, including anime art, cartoon drawings, and classic fairy tale styles. Users can also upload their own drawings or pictures drawn by their children and create custom stories around these visuals. Google designed this feature to make the personal story experience more creative and emotional.
Creating stories takes just a few minutes. Even with short, simple descriptions, Gemini can deliver entertaining and creative stories. One test description, “A fun, exciting, and heroic story in an anime art style.
A group of young people overcome obstacles on their journey to a different planet. Among the obstacles are incredible cliffs, spacecraft, and aliens,” was transformed into an illustrated tale called “Journey to the Stars.”
However, not everything works perfectly. Users occasionally encounter visual inconsistencies. Bugs have been reported, such as human arms being drawn on fish characters and tools being misidentified. Even in Google’s promotional videos, one scene featured a drawing where the tool in a woman’s hand was unclear. This demonstrates that the system can occasionally experience conceptual conflicts.
Furthermore, the chosen art style doesn’t always yield the expected results. While users may have expressed their aesthetic preferences, Gemini’s interpretation sometimes doesn’t fully align with these expectations. This presents a limitation, especially for users who want to stick to a specific visual style.
