Google is bringing its AI-powered smart glasses, developed in partnership with companies including Samsung and Warby Parker, to consumers in 2026. The tech giant is launching a strong alternative to Meta, which has gained momentum in this area, particularly through its collaboration with Ray-Ban, and is taking a step to solidify its position in this growing market.
Google’s new gadget is coming soon
For the hardware design of the new AI glasses, Google collaborated with leading companies in the industry such as Samsung, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster. To support these collaborations, Google committed a total of $150 million in capital in May for these partnerships. Warby Parker, one of the partners, confirmed that the first model developed with Google will definitely be available for sale in 2026.

Google has divided its planned product family into two different categories. The first phase will feature voice-focused glasses that allow users to interact directly with voice commands and utilize the company’s Gemini AI assistant.
Following this initial model, a second type of model with a micro-display embedded in the lens will also be released. These glasses with screens have capabilities such as real-time translation and displaying navigation directions directly to the user.
It was also announced that models of glasses with screens will be introduced next year, but no announcement has yet been made regarding which design will be released first. The entire new series of glasses is built on Google’s Android XR operating system, designed for headsets.
This platform provides tighter integration with Google’s broader ecosystem and greater flexibility for software developers. The new devices are positioned as a comprehensive response to the existing Meta product line.
