Google is preparing to revamp the notification interface for true wireless (TWS) headphones that support Fast Pair. The new interface will allow users to view the battery status of the headphones and charging case much faster and more clearly. These visual updates will allow users to understand battery levels at a glance.
Clearer battery indicators are coming for wireless headphones
This update, revealed during a code analysis of Google Play Services beta version 25.28.31, includes a number of new visual improvements for Fast Pair notifications. The most notable change is the circular progress bars used to display the battery percentage of each component.

These percentage indicators for the left earbud, right earbud, and charging case are now represented not only by numbers but also by graphical icons. While the current interface displayed a simple percentage at the bottom, the new design has placed the battery icons above the components, and the numerical values remain below each component.
The new notification interface has been updated with L (Left), R (Right), and C (Case) labels to help users more clearly understand what each icon represents. These labels are a notable feature not found in the current version. This allows users to quickly identify which battery level belongs to which component without confusion.
Google has also redesigned the low battery alert visuals. In the new interface, the circular battery indicators change color based on the battery status. When the battery level drops below 50 percent, the indicator turns yellow, and when it drops below 20 percent, it turns red.
The current interface also featured a color change, but this change was limited to the small battery icons. In the new system, the color transitions are reflected directly in the progress bar, making them more noticeable.
While this change doesn’t represent a major interface revolution, it significantly improves the user experience. Making battery status notifications more visual and intuitive is particularly beneficial for responsiveness in daily use. It is not yet clear when exactly the updated interface will be available to all users, but the fact that it is in beta indicates that distribution may begin soon.
