Google is suing one of its former engineers for stealing and leaking information about Pixel mobile phone chips. The documents reveal that the information was disclosed with the intention of damaging Google and disclosing confidential data to competitors. Here are the details
Google spokesperson made a statement about the lawsuit
The former engineer is identified as Harshit Roy, who worked at Google in India since 2020 and moved to the US after resigning in early 2024. Google spokesman Jose Castaneda says the following:
‘After investigation, we found that this former employee stole many documents and we have taken legal action against them for repeated and unauthorised disclosure of confidential company information. This is behaviour that we will not tolerate.
The documents submitted by Google state that Roy posted the information on an X (formerly Twitter) account, tagging Apple, Qualcomm and other Google competitors to maximise the potential damage of the leaks.
Initially, Google requested a content removal request for this. Roy’s ignoring the requests caused Google to file a lawsuit in the US Court for the Western District of Texas. The case continues in the proceedings, with Google secretly demanding compensation amounts.
Despite this, confidential data regarding the chips of Google’s next mobile phones continue to leak to the internet. In fact, among the latest leaked data, details such as the company now wants to increase the energy efficiency of its devices have been found.
So what do you think about this?
