Google continues to offer new features to Galaxy Watch users after Samsung switched from Tizen to Wear OS. The Wear OS version of Google Maps has been updated with a redesigned Tile and new watch face tools.
Galaxy watch becomes more useful with new Google Maps features
The Google Maps app draws attention with the new update it received for Wear OS. The redesigned Tile is called ‘Search & Go’ and now comes with three round blue buttons (Home, Work and Voice Search).
The ‘Map’ button placed under these buttons allows you to open the map view. In the previous design, there were only Home and Work buttons, and these buttons were replaced with iconographic symbols instead of text.
The new voice search button makes it easier for you to enter your destination with voice commands instead of typing on the small screen. This way, you can quickly and easily determine your destinations. Google Maps also offers two new watch face widgets: Search Maps and Show Map. Search Maps opens Google Maps with voice input mode, while Show Map opens the Google Maps app with map view.
The new features come with Google Maps’ Wear OS version 11.137.0703.W. You can download the latest version from the Google Play Store on your Galaxy Watch 4 and above series smartwatches. These new updates, along with other features coming to Samsung’s Wear OS-based Galaxy Watches, will further improve your smartwatch experience in the coming months.
Google is taking important steps to support Samsung’s transition to Wear OS. These new features added to Google Maps will make navigation even easier for users in their daily lives. The new features are expected to be available to the masses after the testing period. This new step by Google will take users’ smartwatch experiences to the next level and offer more efficient use.
