Instant messaging apps today are constantly adding new features to improve the user experience: Popular apps like WhatsApp and iMessage have long offered the feature to delete messages for everyone, while Google Messages was lagging behind in this regard. However, Google has now taken action to fill this gap. A new update will add the “delete for everyone” option to Google Messages.
Delete all sent messages with Messages
With this feature, users will be able to completely delete messages they accidentally sent or texts they later regret, just like in WhatsApp and iMessage. However, all conversation participants will need to have the latest version of the app for this to work. Additionally, a time limit for message deletion is expected to be implemented. While the time limit in WhatsApp is 48 hours, a similar time frame is likely to be applied for Google Messages.

Currently, in Google Messages, only the sender could delete a message from their own chat. With this new feature, messages can also be completely removed from the recipient’s chat. This feature will apply to RCS-supported chats.
The RCS Universal Profile 2.7 update will bring not only message deletion but also new features such as editing message reactions and cross-platform security. Google aims to gain a competitive edge over Apple’s iMessage and Meta’s WhatsApp with these improvements.
Although a specific release date has not been announced, the feature is expected to be available to all users in the coming months. What do you think about Google Messages’ move? How much will it improve the user experience? We look forward to your comments!
