Google Photos introduced many new features last year, including powerful editing tools, video effects, and AI-powered tools that enable users to create their own memories. Now, the platform is making photo editing even easier. In fact, Google Photos is receiving improvements on the web with a revamped editor featuring completely new features.
The web version of Google Photos is evolving
When you switch to the new editing menu, you’ll be greeted with a refreshed view that includes the ‘Suggestions’ tab, making it an easy way to change the colors of your photo with four preset options. Currently, under this section, options like ‘Enhance,’ ‘Warm,’ and ‘Cool’ are presented. The ‘Dynamic’ option is only available to Google One subscribers.
The Aspect Ratio tab now offers users preset ratios, making it easier to crop images for different platforms and uses. The next tab allows you to make fine adjustments to aspects like brightness, contrast, highlights, and saturation. It’s worth noting that an HDR setting is available exclusively for Google One subscribers in this section.
In the final editing tab, you’ll find various color profiles that make it easier to apply a specific look to the photo. Each color profile is adjustable, allowing for fine-tuning and adding more or less effect to the image. While these features were available on the mobile versions, their introduction to the web version is a new and promising development.
If you’d like to try out these features, you should visit the Google Photos website using a browser on your PC or Mac. Then, select a photo and choose the ‘Edit’ option located next to the share option on the upper right. Of course, if you frequently use the Google Photos app for iOS or Android, none of these features are new.
