Google, as they prepare to release the eagerly awaited new smartphone series Pixel 9, continues to receive information about the phone: According to the latest leaks, the new generation Google Pixel 9 will feature an ultrasonic fingerprint reader that is impossible to replicate, faster, and more reliable.
Google Pixel 9 will reach out to dirty and oily hands
Replacing the optical under-display fingerprint sensor used in the Pixel 6 series, this new technology will be much more successful in reading wet or oily fingerprints. With this change, issues such as light levels and finger dryness encountered by previous optical readers will be eliminated.
This advancement in fingerprint scanning technology is seen as an important step in terms of user security and usability. Whereas previous methods such as optical scanners reflected light onto the finger to detect patterns and lines, issues could arise from dirt or smudges affecting the process and preventing the device from reading fingerprints.
In contrast, the new generation ultrasonic fingerprint reader works by sending ultrasonic pulses to the user’s finger, allowing it to perform better even in low-light conditions.
According to reliable leaker Kamila Wojciechowska’s report, the Pixel 9 series will use Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Gen 2 (QFS4008) sensor, also used in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Rumors suggest that the new ultrasonic fingerprint scanner will be present in all Pixel 9 models except for the upcoming Fold 2 model.
