While the foldable phone sector continues to advance each year, major tech companies are striving to carve out their share in this market. During last year’s Google I/O event in May, Google introduced its first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, with flagship features. According to recent rumors, the company is set to unveil the Google Pixel Fold 2 with a larger screen at this year’s event. Here are the details about the Google Pixel Fold 2 screen…
The Google Pixel Fold 2 will feature a 7.9-inch inner display
In early February, some images showcasing Google’s anticipated foldable phone surfaced. Current reports are revealing details about the screen of the company’s second foldable device. Based on the shared visuals, the Pixel Fold 2 will boast a larger design compared to the first device, with a 6.4-inch external and a 7.9-inch internal display.
Based on the leaked information, it appears that the new Pixel foldable device will come with significant changes, especially on the rear side. Instead of the familiar Pixel camera setup in the middle that we saw in the previous series, we now see a rectangular design with a triple camera setup shifted to the top left corner.
In the top right corner of the inner screen of the Pixel Fold 2, we’ll encounter a new sensor, expected to be an under-display camera. Additionally, according to reports, the Fold 2 will have a thinner profile and sharper edges compared to the first version, and it will be introduced with a longer body. In terms of dimensions, the device is expected to have a chassis measuring 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.54 mm.
While there are currently no details about its specifications, we expect the Google Pixel Fold 2 to be launched with Google’s anticipated Tensor G4 processor. Additionally, the foldable phone is rumored to come with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. Although Google hasn’t provided a specific unveiling date, there’s a high probability that the new Fold phone will be introduced at the I/O 2024 event, as done previously, and released alongside the Pixel 9 series.
