Google announced that some user data was compromised in a cyberattack. The company’s security team stated that the attack occurred in June and that the source was identified as a hacker group called “ShinyHunters.” Google also reported that this group is known as UNC6040.
Google Data Stolen
The attack targeted a Salesforce data center. The affected data center contained customer contact information, primarily for small and medium-sized businesses. Google stated that the attack was short-lived and quickly intervened. Following the incident, security analyses were initiated and necessary precautions were taken.

Google confirmed that some user data was compromised by the attackers during the attack. While technical details about the stolen data were not disclosed, it was noted that most of the information obtained consisted of basic business data, such as names and addresses, that could be publicly available. The company stated that this data was not considered sensitive user information.
No statement was made regarding whether ransom demands were made following the attack. ShinyHunters is often known for demanding ransom after its cyberattacks. However, due to the limited data stolen in this incident, such a situation is unlikely.
The incident has once again demonstrated that digital security is not an absolute guarantee, even for the most powerful technology companies. What are your thoughts on this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
