Google has begun integrating its AI assistant, Gemini, into the Google TV platform. This development is expected to make the more than 300 million devices that support Google TV and Android TV even smarter. Gemini was first introduced with TCL’s QM9K series televisions and will gradually be rolled out to other devices by the end of the year.
Google TV is gaining AI features
Google says Gemini will specifically enhance the content search and viewing experience. The new assistant will replace Google Assistant, allowing users to ask queries in more natural language. For example, it will be able to directly answer questions like, “Show me the best recent action movies” or “What episodes did I miss last season?”

Gemini won’t be limited to content search. Users can ask any question, just like on smartphones. Students can get homework help, and individual users can use Gemini to learn new skills.
Existing Google Assistant commands will also continue to work with Gemini, allowing users to maintain their old habits for basic tasks like turning off the lights or playing media.
Later this year, Gemini will reportedly be coming to the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn 4K Pro, the 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX series, and TCL’s QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models. Google plans to further enhance these features over time.
