Marking its 25th year in the Bay Area, Google announced today the imminent opening of a brand-new Google Visitor Experience at its corporate headquarters. Located at the eye-catching “Gradient Canopy” office building, previously known as Charleston East, the public space aims to welcome neighbors, visitors, and Google employees alike.
The new facility, set to open on Thursday, October 12, is situated at 2000 N Shoreline Blvd in Mountain View, CA, with designated parking available for visitors.
A Diverse Array of Amenities and Experiences in Google Visitor Experience
The visitor center will feature an array of amenities, including the first-ever Google Store on the West Coast. Following locations in Chelsea and Williamsburg in New York City, this retail outlet will provide an opportunity to purchase and discover more about Google’s Pixel hardware products.
Alongside the retail space, Google is also introducing its first-ever public “Cafe @ Mountain View” and an outdoor plaza dubbed “The Plaza,” which will host art installations, events, and various other programs.
Additionally, the space will include a venue specifically tailored for local community groups and non-profit events, known as “The Huddle,” and a “Pop-Up Shop” that will feature products from local businesses.
A New Era for Google Campus Visits
While the Google campus has been partially open to the public, offering sights like a dinosaur statue and some Android figures, it lacked a comprehensive visitor experience. The new center replaces an older gift shop that was shut down a few years ago and is expected to become a bustling hub, particularly during the annual Google I/O event.
This move comes as rival tech giant Apple already provides a similar visitor experience, complete with gourmet snacks and seating, at its Cupertino headquarters.
