Google is working on a new “cleaning reminder” feature for in-ear headphones. A notification will be sent to Pixel Buds owners to help users keep their headphones clean. The detail, which appeared in the latest version of the Pixel Buds app, shows a reminder message every 120 hours (5 days) of use.
Google will remind you to clean Pixel Buds with app
Google has started showing a new notification in the Pixel Buds app. Thanks to the warnings to be sent to users, it is aimed to keep the headphones clean. It is also stated that “sound quality, charging and updates” will be felt better with reminders.
Users will also receive notifications outside the app. After 120 hours of use, “Time to clean your headphones. It will improve sound quality, battery life and access to updates”. In the Pixel Buds app, “Clean your earbuds. It will improve sound quality and charging”.
Cleaning the earbuds can help prevent the buildup of earwax that can degrade sound quality over time. The cleaning process also ensures that the contacts for charging and firmware updates remain clean.
While Google’s move is aimed at Pixel Buds, experts recommend cleaning in-ear headphones regularly. This simple cleaning will both maintain the performance and extend the life of the headphones.
The new automatic reminders are available in the latest update to the Pixel Buds app. Pixel Buds owners can check the Play Store to download the update. However, this feature is currently only available for Pixel Buds.
