Google continues to expand the Pixel family. Google, which will unveil the budget-friendly Pixel 8a and Pixel 9 series this year, is receiving new certificates. Finally, the battery specifications of a device with model number GH2MB were leaked.
Will the Google Pixel 9 series have a 5,000 mAh battery?
A new Google smartphone with model number GH2MB was spotted in UL Demko certification. It confirms that the device will come with a battery with a capacity of 4,942mAh (or 5,000 mAh directly).
The large battery capacity suggests that the mystery device is unlikely to be the budget-oriented Pixel 8a. A 4,942mAh battery is likely to power Google’s flagship Pixel 9 series. It is especially in line with expectations for Pro models, which are known to demand larger power packs.
It is also possible that the certificate is related to the foldable Google Pixel Fold 2. However, it was not specified exactly which Google device the model number GH2MB in the list belongs to.
Google is expected to introduce the Pixel 8a model in May this year. The box thought to belong to the Pixel 8a, which leaked recently, showed the black-colored version of the device. On the back of the box, the Pixel 8a’s dual camera setup stands out. The previously leaked dimensions of 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9 mm are consistent with the images of the round-edged smartphone.
Meanwhile, Google is rumored to be working on a new Tensor chip, thought to be called Tensor G4. It was spotted on Geekbench in an eight-core configuration, down from nine cores in the Tensor G3. The chipset is expected to power the Pixel 9 series as well as the Pixel Fold 2.
