Swedish game studio Liquid Swords has released screenshots of its first project, raising great curiosity. The studio was founded two years ago with the goal of creating ambitious open world games. The released visuals show a photorealistic city reminiscent of the GTA series.
Liquid Swords CEO Ebba Sundberg explained that although the visuals aim for realism, their game will be “a single-player action role-playing game (RPG), not a sandbox crime simulator”. In this context, he underlined that it will be different from the GTA series.

There is still very little information about the game’s story, gameplay mechanics and the world it takes place in. But screenshots reveal that Liquid Swords is inspired by the likes of Cyberpunk 2077, which blends open worlds with story-driven RPG systems.
The small studio has come a long way since its founding in 2022. Accordingly, they first announced that they received investment from NetEase Games. CEO Sundberg stated at the time that NetEase’s support would help them realize their studio goals. This vision includes graphics that push the boundaries of photorealism.
But Liquid Swords is also focused on creating an immersive role-playing experience within an open-world framework. Players are eagerly awaiting updates that will shed light on the blending of genres.
