A new leak suggests HMD is preparing to enter serious territory in the HMD premium mid-range segment. Codenamed “Lord Chaos,” the device might not have a name yet but its specs are making plenty of noise.
HMD premium mid-range phone could pack a 144Hz OLED

According to leaker @smashx_60 (HMD_MEME), the unnamed HMD premium mid-range smartphone will feature a 144Hz OLED display with HDR10+ support. Currently, the only other HMD phone to offer this refresh rate is the HMD Skyline.
That alone pushes the display into flagship territory, especially considering the brand’s budget-friendly roots.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is expected to power the device
Under the hood, the leak points to a 4nm Qualcomm chipset clocked at 2.8GHz with an Adreno 722 GPU. These details match the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, the same chip used in recent devices like the Realme 15 Pro 5G.
HMD reportedly pairs the chip with 12GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. While the exact storage size remains unknown, the use of UFS 3.1 confirms a focus on speed.
HMD premium mid-range phone may include flagship charging
If the leak holds up, this could be the most powerful charging setup on any HMD phone to date. Key hardware includes:
- 5,000 mAh battery
- 65W wired charging
- USB 3.1 Type-C port
- Qi2 wireless charging
- Android 16 pre-installed
It’s worth noting that Qi2 support is still rare outside flagship models, making this a welcome addition for mid-range buyers.
Might not be the HMD Skyline 2 after all
While some speculate this could be the Skyline 2 or Skyline 2 GT, an earlier leak showed a completely different spec sheet for those models. Unless HMD has pulled a bait-and-switch, “Lord Chaos” may debut as its own product line.
A surprising turn for HMD
If accurate, this HMD premium mid-range phone could rival much more expensive Android devices without the flagship branding. That’s a bold move for a company mostly known for basic smartphones and nostalgic reboots.
HMD hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but “Lord Chaos” might just be the most exciting curveball the brand has thrown in years.
