Apple is still working on HomePod with LCD screen. Newly released prototypes, although interesting, strengthen these claims. The smart speaker apparently has the same design as the existing HomePod, but with a curved, convex LCD screen on top to display content.
HomePod claims with LCD screen got us excited!
According to the Apple leaker and prototype collector known as “Kosutami,” Apple continues to work on a HomePod model with a curved LCD screen. Codenamed B720, the device apparently has the same design as the existing HomePod but features a curved, convex LCD screen on top for displaying content.
In October, Kosutami shared images of component parts allegedly belonging to a touch-screen HomePod prototype. Other news at the time claimed that the accuracy of these images was confirmed by other sources.
Apple is believed to be working on making Apple Music and Apple Podcasts compatible with the new screen, which will show a blurry animation based on the colors of the album cover as a song or podcast is played. The screen will also be able to show important notifications.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman first claimed in 2021 that Apple was working on new HomePods with screens and cameras. Earlier this year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple plans to launch a redesigned HomePod with a 7-inch screen in the first half of 2024.
According to Gurman, Apple is thought to be rethinking its smart home strategy in the long term and is working on a combined Apple TV and HomePod device, as well as a HomePod with a display mounted on a robotic arm.
