Honor Magic 5 family receives Android 14
Users from different regions have started reporting on Reddit that they have received the update. The Android 14-based MagicOS 8.0 interface, which is about 3 GB in size, brings many improvements and new features.
The update focuses on improving smoothness with optimizations to animations. In addition, the Magic 5 Pro’s screen-embedded cameras and sensors now feature Magic Capsule, similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. It will be possible to see notifications and messages from this area.
MagicOS 8.0 allows for more customization of home screen folders. Widgets of the same size can now be stacked on top of each other. A new feature called Magic Portal allows users to drag text, images or files to share them between apps.
Android 14 also includes Ultra Power Saving mode to save battery power. Honor overhauled security and privacy features and introduced Parallel Zone, which allows certain apps to be removed from the home screen.
The update looks set to roll out gradually over the coming weeks, with more devices getting it in the coming weeks.
