After announcing the Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung’s latest foldable experiment that caused a stir in the tech world, the Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung has taken another significant step. The company has shared an official video detailing how the three-stage foldable phone was manufactured and the tests it underwent. One of the most important parts of this video is Samsung’s claimed durability level for the phone.
How durable is the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold?
In the video, Samsung claims that the Galaxy Z TriFold’s main display is resistant to folding up to 200,000 times. The company states that this figure is equivalent to folding the device approximately 100 times a day for five years. It’s worth noting that this data is based on Samsung’s internal testing and has not yet been verified by independent organizations. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 had a folding rating of 500,000 times. While the TriFold offers lower durability on paper, its complex design likely pushes engineering boundaries.

To achieve this durability goal, Samsung developed a new assembly process specifically for the TriFold. The video highlights the integration of two Armor Flex Hinges and the advanced bonding technology used to create a flatter display surface. The main display is also seen being pressed under controlled pressure to achieve a thinner and stronger structure. Samsung also conducts additional quality control tests to ensure smooth folding and structural integrity.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is being described as Samsung’s most ambitious hardware announcement in years. When opened, the device transforms into a 10-inch tablet-sized display and is just 3.9 mm thick at its thinnest point. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform customized for the Galaxy, the phone features a 200MP camera. It also boasts a 5,600mAh battery, the largest ever in a foldable phone, and supports 45W wired charging.
The device’s form factor brings new features such as triple-window multitasking, standalone Samsung DeX, up to four virtual workspaces, and an automatic alarm system that alerts users if they fold the device incorrectly. Samsung’s first multi-fold phone will be released in Korea on December 12, 2025. It is expected to arrive in the US and other markets in the first quarter of 2026. The price for the model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is set at approximately $2,443.
