Anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been growing for years. With the next-generation console expected to hit the market in 2025, various analyses regarding its sales targets and potential success have begun to surface. Most recently, renowned gaming analyst Mat Piscatella shared some noteworthy predictions about Nintendo’s new device. Here are the details:
Switch 2 Could Sell 4.3 Million Units!
Circana gaming analyst Mat Piscatella predicts that the Nintendo Switch 2 could sell approximately 4.3 million units in the U.S. alone during its first year on the market. The analyst noted that this estimate assumes the console is released in the first half of 2025. If Nintendo launches the Switch 2 in the spring, sales could see a significant boost globally during periods like Japan’s Golden Week holiday.
It’s also projected that the Switch 2 could account for nearly one-third of all console sales in the U.S. However, Piscatella also warned about potential supply shortages following its launch due to high demand. Whether Nintendo is already taking steps to prevent such shortages by increasing stock remains unclear. As such, the console could sell out quickly and become hard to find in its initial weeks on the market.
Although the forecasts for the Switch 2 are positive, Piscatella believes that the PlayStation 5 will remain the top-selling console in the U.S. in 2025. Massive games like Grand Theft Auto 6 are expected to boost PS5 sales, while the likelihood of such titles coming to Nintendo consoles remains low. Still, the hardware capabilities of the Switch 2 and the lineup of games launching alongside it could play a decisive role in its success.
The performance of the Nintendo Switch 2 in terms of both hardware and software is already a topic of curiosity. Do you think Nintendo can write another success story with this new console? Share your thoughts in the comments!
