With the release of the iPhone 14 series in 2022, Apple introduced the Always-On display (AOD) feature to its smartphones. This allows users to dim the Lock Screen while still showing important information like the time. However, some users have found the default configuration to be too cluttered and difficult to read. Fortunately, it is possible to customize and simplify the Always-On display on the iPhone if you’re running iOS 16.2 or later.
Customizing the Always-On display on the iPhone
To customize the Always-On display on your iPhone, first make sure you have the latest version of iOS installed. To check this, go to Settings > General > About and verify that you are running iOS 16.2 or later. Once you have the latest version of iOS, follow these steps to cahnge the Always-On display on your iPhone:
- Launch the Settings app.
- Scroll down to the Display & Brightness section and tap it.
- Under the Always-On Display heading, you’ll see options to customize the information displayed on the AOD, including the time, date, and battery level.
- You can also customize the look of the Always-On display by tapping the “Style” option. This will allow you to choose between different styles for the AOD, such as a digital or analog clock face.
By following these steps, you can easily change and simplify the Always-On display on your iPhone to make it more useful and less cluttered. This is a welcome change, as many users had previously disabled the Always-On display due to its lack of customization options.
