Huawei has announced the addition of two new tablet models to its MatePad family. Both devices stand out with their high-resolution, 144Hz displays. Their slim and lightweight designs are noteworthy, and they run the HarmonyOS 5 operating system.

The new MatePad Air 12, as its name suggests, features a 12-inch IPS LCD display. The screen has a resolution of 2800×1840 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. The optional PaperMatte coating reduces reflections and blocks 99% of light interference. The display can reach a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and supports the full DCI-P3 color gamut.

Measuring just 5.9 mm thick and weighing 555 grams, the tablet features Huawei M-Pencil Pro stylus support and six speakers. While processor information has not been disclosed, the device offers 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage options. The MatePad Air 12 features a 50MP main camera on the rear and an 8MP front camera.
The MatePad Air 12 comes with a 10,100mAh battery and 66W fast charging support. Wi-Fi 7 connectivity is available, but there’s no cellular version. Models with 12GB of RAM will go on sale in China on August 21st, starting at $417.
The more affordable model in the series, the MatePad 11.5 S, features an 11.5-inch IPS LCD display. This display offers a 144Hz refresh rate and a 2800×1840 pixel resolution. The device supports M-Pencil Pro and has four speakers.
No information was provided about this model’s processor. The tablet, which comes with 8/12GB of RAM and 256/512GB of storage, has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The device also comes with an 8,800mAh battery and 40W fast charging. The MatePad 11.5 S will be available in China on August 21, starting at $348.
