Huawei has topped the worldwide wearable technology market for the second quarter in a row. According to IDC’s research, the Chinese company managed to overtake brands such as Apple and Samsung in the last quarter. Here are the details.
Huawei became the leader in the wearable technology market
Huawei shipped 8.9 million wearable devices in the second quarter of this year, accounting for a 20.3 percent share of the global market. This represents a 55 percent growth compared to 6.3 million shipments in the same period last year.
In this context, Huawei achieved an increase of 42 percent in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year. The company, which overtook longtime leaders Apple and Samsung, stands out with f/p models such as the Watch Fit 3.
Toyota, Honda and Nissan sales are down. The Chinese market has failed to meet sales expectations for seven months.
Xiaomi ranked second with 5.9 million units and 13.5 percent market share. This figure also represents a 17 percent year-on-year growth. Apple came in third with 5.6 million shipments, but its growth was down 11 percent year-on-year. Its market share in the last quarter was around 13 percent.
Samsung ranked fourth with 3.3 million shipments and a 7.6 percent share. Meanwhile, BBK, which owns brands such as Oppo, vivo, OnePlus, Realme, iQOO, recorded significant growth in the first half.
Huawei is also the leader in the Chinese market. The company, which sold 6 million units in the last quarter, has a 38 percent share in its home country. Of course, it is possible that Apple will announce the Watch Series 10 in the coming days and experience growth in sales.
