Huawei’s Pura X, launched in March, featured a radically different form factor than the foldable phones we’d been accustomed to until then. While similar to the “Flip”-style vertical foldables available worldwide, it featured a rather unusual 16:10 aspect ratio when unfolded. This ratio made it wider than any Flip model released to date.
Pura X2 Powered by Kirin 9030 Processor
Apparently, Huawei’s experiment with this form factor has been successful enough to warrant a successor. According to a new rumor from China, the company is already working on the Pura X2. The Pura X2 is scheduled for release in the first quarter of next year, between January and March. The device will reportedly be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9030 SoC.

Given that the original Pura X used the Kirin 9020, switching to the Kirin 9030 seems like a logical choice. Unfortunately, no other details about the Pura X2 have been leaked yet, but more information is sure to follow in the future.
Huawei’s new foldable device will also compete with Samsung’s Z Fold series. Considering Apple’s ongoing work on the iPhone Fold, competition in the foldable phone market is expected to intensify in the coming years.
