The USA began to take extra measures after China’s breakthroughs in technology. Huawei has been one of the Chinese companies that have been subject to restrictions for a long time. The US government is loosening restrictions on blacklisted firms to maintain its leadership in setting international standards for technology.
Huawei’s path may cross with Android OS again
The Industry and Security Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce shared its decision, which allows organizations to be given freedom on certain technologies and software, in a statement made the other day. Among these brands is Huawei, which has had problems with the USA in recent years and said goodbye to the Android operating system.
In 2019, the US under the Trump administration blacklisted the Chinese tech giant. Following the US decision to restrict access to suppliers, Huawei had to stop using the Google-signed Android operating system on its smartphones. The Chinese manufacturer uses HarmonyOS, which it is currently developing, on its devices.
The US is concerned that large Chinese companies are taking over the technology sector. The primary goal of the USA is to prevent China from playing a larger role in determining the way technology is designed and implemented globally. The US also does not want some companies that it sees as a national security threat to grow any further.
Alan Estevez, Undersecretary of Commerce responsible for industry and security, made a statement on the latest developments. Estevez stated that although the US has introduced some relaxations, companies must follow certain rules. He especially highlighted national security and international standards.
The US aims to maintain its leading role in technology by removing restrictions against some companies. Huawei has repeatedly denied that it poses a threat to the United States against all allegations. What are your thoughts on this subject? Please share with us in the comments!
