Avatr, the electric car startup co-founded by Huawei, CATL and Changan, has unveiled its new crossover model. Called Avatr 15, the vehicle will be available in the second half of 2024. In this context, it was developed as a competitor to Tesla Model Y in China. So what are the Avatr 15 features?
Huawei supported Avatr 15 revealed
The Avatr 15 has been revealed in camouflaged images shared by the company. It reveals its distinctive design with its thin LED-lit headlights and wide front grille. Mirrors with cameras and retractable door handles stand out in the exterior.
The Avatr 15 is about 4.75 meters long and will be available with both hybrid and full electric engine options. This will enable it to appeal to different users against competitors such as Tesla, which has so far only offered electric vehicles.
The crossover was developed on a new platform jointly developed by Changan, CATL and Huawei. This platform is said to support hybrid and electric configurations. The latest images also revealed that the model passed cold weather tests. This shows that it can overcome difficult conditions.
Founded in 2018 with Nio, Avatr is now a joint venture with Changan, CATL and various investors. Huawei is the technology developer with HarmonyOS. The brand currently has the Avatr 11 SUV and 12 hatchback models.
The Avatr 15, whose main competitor is the Model Y, will make its full launch in the coming months with both engine and price details. However, the images from the company give the message that it will achieve important things in the electric market.
