Recent industry analysis shows that Huawei wants to be one of the world’s top 5 smartphone manufacturers by 2025. Insights from the supply chain reveal a significant upturn for the company after a difficult period of US sanctions.
Huawei wants to be the global smartphone leader in 2025
According to a report from China, Huawei will not only join the group of top 5 global manufacturers, but will also return to the number one position in the Chinese market in 2025. Given the challenges the company has faced in recent years, this is a remarkable achievement.
According to industry analysts, the lack of access to Google services and the Play Store is particularly challenging. But Huawei seems determined to regain a foothold in the global market.
The report also revealed Huawei’s plan to abandon Android in China and switch to its own HarmonyOS NEXT operating system. Accordingly, the brand will not offer the NEXT update in the global market. Huawei prefers to use the standard HarmonyOS for now.
The brand’s performance in the Chinese market is particularly noteworthy. In 2024, the company managed to sell 46 million smartphones, following Apple’s 42.9 million and vivo’s 49.3 million. In China in particular, it was the fastest growing brand with a year-on-year increase of 37 percent. Apple recorded a 17 percent decline and vivo an 11 percent growth.
