Dynamic Island technology made its way into our lives with Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro series phones. While it was highly praised by some, it also faced criticism from others. Huawei seems to have taken a liking to this feature as well. In fact, it appears that the upcoming Huawei Mate 60 series will feature the company’s own production of Dynamic Island.
How will Huawei’s produced Dynamic Island be like?
According to new leaks, Huawei is reportedly planning to return to the pill-shaped front camera design, which we are familiar with from the S10 Plus, and which the company introduced in the Mate 40 and P40 series in 2020. Since then, Apple has refrained from incorporating such a front camera design in their phones. As a result, we started seeing notched designs in their newly released series.
We have become accustomed to seeing Huawei’s notch designs with two cameras and one 3D ToF sensor. However, this formula is about to change. Huawei is planning to reintroduce the previously shelved pill-shaped embedded camera system with the launch of the Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro models in the fall.
After a three-year hiatus, the two-camera and one ToF sensor system will once again be removed from the bezel. As mentioned before, Huawei has used this design in their previous phones, but this time, they will place it at the center instead of the right or left side. This centrally positioned design, similar to the approach taken by Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro models, will be a first for the company.
The two-camera and ToF sensor system were already used in the Huawei Mate 30 back in 2019, and the Mate 40 series featured a hole-punch display. The novelty here is that in the upcoming Mate 60 flagship, both cameras and the ToF sensor will be housed within the same hole-punch.
However, it is believed that Huawei will not stop at just a design update. Similar to what Apple did with its iPhone 14 Pro models, Huawei is expected to develop its own Dynamic Island software to make this design more effective. In order to avoid falling behind the Cupertino-based tech giant, we will likely see more of Huawei’s moves in the coming time.
