Hyundai’s subsidiary in China, Beijing Hyundai, has officially shared the interior visuals of its first fully electric SUV model, Elexio. The vehicle is planned to be launched in the Chinese market in the third quarter of this year.
Electric SUV Elexio to say hello to the Chinese market
The powertrain is provided by Chinese manufacturer BYD. Elexio was exhibited for the first time at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. However, the interior design and technical specifications were not disclosed at that time. The details were announced to the public with the global launch held on May 8.

The most striking element in Elexio’s interior design is the 27-inch dual-screen instrument panel with 4K resolution. This screen offers integrated information and entertainment systems for the driver and front passenger. The regenerative braking system can be adjusted in four stages thanks to the paddles on the steering wheel.
In addition, the single-pedal driving mode can be activated through this system. There are two separate wireless charging units for the driver and front passenger in the vehicle’s interior. There are a total of 29 different storage compartments throughout the cabin.
The Elexio SUV has completed its sales license application in China. The model, which will be offered to the market in two different versions, has a single 160 kW electric motor in the front-wheel drive (FWD) option. In the all-wheel drive (AWD) version, in addition to the 160 kW motor in the front, there is a second 73 kW motor placed in the rear. This arrangement provides a total of 233 kW (312 horsepower). Both versions can reach a top speed of 185 km/h.
On the battery side, lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) technology supplied by BYD’s sub-brand FinDreams was preferred. In measurements made according to China’s CLTC standards, it was stated that the vehicle can offer a range of up to 700 kilometers on a single charge.
Elexio will be built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The model represents an important step in the company’s electric vehicle strategy in China. In a statement made by Beijing Hyundai, it was stated that Elexio sets an example for the restructuring of foreign subsidiaries operating in China in the electric market.
