IBM is investing $150 billion in the United States
Under IBM’s new investment plan, more than $30 billion will be channelled directly into research and development (R&D). The company wants to strengthen its leadership in computer technologies by increasing its production capacity in the US.

IBM manages the world’s largest fleet of quantum computers and will continue to carry out its design, manufacturing and assembly activities in the US. The quantum computing technologies developed by the company produce solutions to complex problems that classical computers cannot solve.
Approximately 300 companies on the Fortune 500 list access IBM’s quantum systems through the Quantum Network. There are currently more than 600 thousand active users on this network.
IBM is one of the largest employers of technology in the USA. The company has taken part in many important projects in the past, from the data processing infrastructure of the Social Security System to the Apollo Programme.
The company’s investment decision was announced following the new customs policies put into effect by the Donald Trump administration to increase production. Trump had exempted chips, smartphones, computers and other technology devices from certain customs duties with the regulation he made at the end of April.
On the other hand, Nvidia, one of IBM’s competitors, is also making big investment plans for the US. The company will build an artificial intelligence infrastructure totalling up to $ 500 billion in the country over the next four years.
