The Thing, one of the iconic horror movies of the cinema world, is getting ready to return as a game after years. The 2002 The Thing game based on the movie is being redeveloped in a remastered version. So what will The Thing: Remastered offer? Here are the details.
The Thing: Remastered is coming
Nightdive Studios is re-developing The Thing, first released in 2002. Based on the 1982 movie of the same name, The Thing made a big impact with its third-person action-horror game elements. It looks like it will be on the agenda again with today’s graphic quality.
The remastered version will take players back to Antarctica with improved models, textures, environments, lighting, shadows and depth of field. The game will take place after the events depicted in the movie and will retain the story of the first production.
With Remastered, players will take on the role of Captain J.F. Blake. In this context, he will lead a team sent to understand what happened to the abandoned research base in Antarctica. The game is expected to feature action sequences and human-monster battles.
The most striking point of the game will be the “trust/fear” system. Players will be able to understand whether the people on their team are humans or monsters and provide trust to their team. They will also be able to choose who to cooperate with.
In addition to improved visuals, Nightdive said that gameplay improvements and new achievements will also be available. The Thing: Remastered is coming to PC, as well as PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
