Samsung also made a move for wireless charging support, which iPhone models have supported for a long time and users mostly use. With the announcements made, wireless charging, which is already supported by many devices, will be updated as Qi2 in 2025. Here are the details.
Samsung will offer Qi2 wireless charging support
Android manufacturers, unlike Apple, failed to offer Qi2 support for wireless charging in 2024. But Samsung seems to change in 2025 with its work on this side. Samsung Galaxy phones will eventually support Qi2, according to the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
In the statements made by Samsung in the press release of WPC, it was announced that the Qi2 development story will continue in 2025, while Samsung Galaxy devices and Androids will support Qi2 in 2025.
While magnets must be placed on the devices to provide wireless charging support, Qi2 offers charging support up to 15W, which provides faster charging than before. In addition to Samsung, Google continues to develop for Qi2. Instead of directly supporting Qi2, Google can develop Qi v2.2 support and use it on Pixel devices.
According to WPC’s statements, Qi v2.1 will be presented with a new design for wireless car charging. We can most likely see Qi2 support in the Galaxy S25 series.
