Instagram has opened the reels video acceleration feature to users. With this new feature, users will be able to watch short videos twice as fast. This feature, which was previously available on TikTok and frequently preferred by users, can now be used in Instagram reels videos.

Instagram offers the ability to speed up reels videos

The acceleration process is quite simple. While watching a Reels video, long pressing on the right or left side of the screen plays the video at 2x speed. This innovation will provide great convenience, especially for users who want to watch reels videos up to three minutes long faster.

Instagram first offered reels videos in a format limited to 15 seconds. Then, this period was increased to three minutes, giving content producers a wider narrative opportunity. The new acceleration feature will allow longer content to be consumed in a more practical way.

Users can easily activate this feature by opening a reels video after entering the Instagram application and pressing and holding the relevant point. It is noteworthy that Instagram is developing new features inspired by TikTok.

The platform, which previously offered the Instagram Remix feature similar to TikTok’s ‘Duet’ feature, now continued to create an experience similar to TikTok with the acceleration option. This innovation, which aims to enable users to consume short-form video content more quickly, has started to spread worldwide.
