While it is possible to turn off this feature on WhatsApp, Instagram still keeps it active. However, Instagram is working on support for closing seen.

Instagram, which has millions of users, is a platform where thousands of messages are sent every day. However, users currently cannot hide whether they have seen a message in the application. Screenshots shared on Twitter revealed the new option.
Instagram is working on a feature that will allow you to disable the seen status in the app. Today, when you view a message, “Seen” appears at the bottom of the message. However, it will be possible to turn off this information for both parties.
Instagram is testing a video notes feature. Thanks to this innovation, you can leave notes on your profile that will be visible for 24 hours.
Instagram already allows you to hide your activity status. If you select Activity Status as “hidden”, you can hide when you were last active to people who follow or message you. However, similar support is not available for “seen” in messages.
It is thought that the new support will work similar to WhatsApp. In other words, if you turn off the seen status, the other party will not be shown this information, and you will not be able to find out whether the message you sent has been read or not.
On the other hand, Instagram has reportedly been testing video notes for some time. With this feature, users will be able to get more engagement by leaving video notes on their profiles. Video notes will appear at the top of the user’s profile and will be permanent for 24 hours.
