Threads, the Twitter competitor platform of Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, under Meta’s umbrella company, made a swift entry into the internet market recently. It quickly gained a large number of users after being launched overnight between July 5th (Wednesday) and July 6th (Thursday).
Threads reached 100 million users in 4 days
The new social media platform, presented as a rival to Twitter, continues to rapidly grow its user base. Threads managed to surpass 100 million users in just 4 days since its release. The new social media application reached 10 million users in the first seven hours and hosted more than 30 million users within 24 hours, marking a significant achievement. After 48 hours, Threads had surpassed 60 million users.
Previously, ChatGPT held the record as the fastest platform to reach 100 million users. On the other hand, while TikTok took 9 months to reach 100 million, Instagram took approximately 2 and a half years. After Threads’ rapid rise, we will see in the coming days whether it can sustain its success.
Recently, Threads has sparked discussions about the privacy of personal data. It has been stated that the application collects various types of information, raising concerns about its security. The new social media application is said to have access to details such as race, sexual orientation, pregnancy status, and religion.
Despite all these negative aspects, Twitter competitor Threads continues to increase its user base at full speed. What are your thoughts on this new social media application competing with Twitter? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section.
