Doom, one of the most cult-classic games in gaming history, has now been integrated into a CAPTCHA verification system. Developers are pushing the boundaries of the classic game’s experience. Implemented by developer Guillermo Rauch, the development allows users to pass a CAPTCHA test by traveling through a Doom level and eliminating three enemies.
Doom is now available as a CAPTCHA test
For years, the Doom series has been ported to an ever-expanding range of devices, from DSLR cameras to pregnancy tests and even within the game itself. Doom CAPTCHA is also an innovative creation, but it is unlikely to be adopted for widespread use.
The difficulty of the task, combined with the legal consequences of using official assets without authorization, makes it an unlikely candidate for robot testing. However, it has been tested in many different places before and is popular with gamers.
From the game’s first release days in the 1990s to the present day, Doom has consistently defied expectations and found its place on a variety of devices and media. This shows the popularity of the game as well as the creativity of the developers in pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
On the other hand, it is possible to say that the series has been on the agenda for a while. Doom + Doom II brings the two games together in a single package for the first time, with support for 4K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate thanks to id Software’s KEX game engine.
