Intel is getting ready to release its 14th Generation desktop processors later this year. However, things seem to have taken an unexpected turn. “MSI” accidentally revealed all the details. A training video containing significant details about Intel’s yet-to-be-announced 14th Generation processors, codenamed Raptor Lake-S Refresh, was discovered on MSI’s YouTube channel.
How will the Intel 14th Generation processors be?
MSI states that Intel’s 14th Generation processors will be approximately three percent faster than the 13th Generation on average. This figure might fall below the expectations of many, but there are also reports of a significant 17 percent increase in multi-threaded workloads for the Intel Core i7.
MSI published the video and deleted it shortly after, but the damage was already done. The information had been saved. Despite MSI’s attempt to backtrack, they inadvertently leaked Intel’s 14th Generation processors. According to the video, the Core i5-14600K and Core i9-14900K will maintain the same core counts as their 13th Generation counterparts. However, there will be an increase in core count for the Core i7-14700K.
The Core i7-14700K will feature twelve efficiency cores instead of the usual eight performance and eight efficiency cores, resulting in a 17 percent improvement in specific multi-threaded workloads. While other processors might not have garnered much anticipation, the Core i7-14700K seems to have the potential to impress users. Of course, it’s worth noting that there could be surprises with other processors as well.
Furthermore, MSI also revealed that there haven’t been any architectural changes in Intel’s 14th Generation chips. This means that these CPUs are built on the same Intel 7 (10nm) process as the current 13th Generation chips, as indicated by the company’s recent BIOS updates, which also suggests that these CPUs will work on MSI’s existing Z690 and Z790 motherboards.
According to MSI’s video, the 14th Generation processors will also bring higher DDR5 frequencies and L3 cache improvements. It’s said that Intel will announce the 14th Generation processors at the upcoming Innovation 2023 event next month. PC gamers are eager to see how the 14th Generation processors will compare to AMD’s latest X3D processors.
