The highly anticipated new title from Pearl Abyss—the studio behind Black Desert Online—has officially launched today, but with a glaring technical omission. Crimson Desert does not currently support Intel Arc GPUs, leaving many users unable to play. In a surprising move, the developer’s official FAQ page suggests that Intel Arc owners should simply “request a refund,” indicating that a fix is not imminent.
Players Left Stranded: Intel Expresses Deep Disappointment
Following this development, Intel issued a firm statement. In an email sent to Tom’s Hardware and other tech outlets, Intel expressed “deep disappointment” that players cannot step into the world of Pywel. Company officials claim they reached out to Pearl Abyss multiple times to test, validate, and optimize Intel graphics support for the game.

According to Intel, the studio was provided with early access hardware, drivers, and engineering resources covering multiple generations, including Alchemist, Battlemage, Meteor Lake, and Lunar Lake. Despite this, users attempting to launch the game with an Intel Arc card are met with the error message: “Graphics device currently not supported.” Interestingly, over 100 complaints have surfaced on Steam discussion boards from AMD and Nvidia users reporting the same error.
Market Share vs. User Base: A Strategic Clash
According to the latest JPR reports, Intel holds only a 1% market share in the discrete GPU market compared to AMD and Nvidia. However, the company emphasizes that through integrated Arc graphics in Meteor Lake, Lunar Lake, and Panther Lake laptops, it reaches tens of millions of gamers.
Intel has placed the ball firmly in the developer’s court, suggesting that users contact Pearl Abyss directly to inquire why support was not provided, while reiterating their readiness to assist the studio. This hardware incompatibility highlights how critical GPU choice remains for day-one gaming experiences.
