Jon Peddie Research (JPR), which published its third-quarter 2025 report on the desktop graphics card market, revealed significant data that reshapes the industry landscape. While demand and supply chain issues persist, the latest figures indicate significant activity, particularly on AMD and Intel.
Intel on the rise in the graphics card market
AMD increased its share of the desktop AIB market by 0.8 percentage points this quarter, reaching 7 percent. This increase indicates more consistent growth compared to the company’s recent fluctuations. Nvidia, however, experienced a slight decline. While its market share has fallen to 92 percent, the company still maintains its overwhelming dominance in desktop graphics cards.

The most notable development of the quarter came from Intel. The Intel Arc series, which had long struggled to gain visibility in the discrete graphics card market, reached a 1 percent share of the AIB market for the first time. Previously, the company had never reached more than half a percentage point.
Therefore, while Arc’s third-quarter results may seem small, they represent a significant milestone demonstrating that Intel’s presence in the desktop graphics market is beginning to strengthen.
The report also reveals an improvement in the market’s financial outlook. The total value of the desktop AIB market reached $8.8 billion in the third quarter of 2025. Despite a 2.8 percent quarter-over-quarter increase, this figure still lags behind the average of the last decade.
However, the year-over-year performance is much stronger: Shipments increased by 47.5 percent. JPR notes that this increase was driven primarily by demand for data centers. The 145.5 percent jump in dGPU shipments compared to the previous quarter is the clearest indicator of this increased demand.
