Intel has accelerated its efforts for the next-generation Lunar Lake-U series of mobile processors to be released in late 2024. These models will use the third-generation Core Ultra architecture, which will experience up to 50 percent performance improvement compared to Meteor Lake-U processors.
Intel Lunar Lake-U performance will be 50 percent better
According to the latest leaks from reliable sources, Intel plans to launch the Lunar Lake-U series in late 2024. The processors, codenamed “Lunar Lake”, will be based on the Core Ultra architecture. In this context, multithreading performance will be 50 percent better compared to Meteor Lake processors.
It is said that the visible gain in performance can be achieved without the need for Hyper-Threading technology. Hyper-Threading, a core-oriented technology, provides a gain of almost 25 percent.
However, the removal of Hyper-Threading allows Intel to reduce power and cache loads. This helps improve efficiency. Lion Cove P-core and Skymont E-core in Lunar Lake will be more efficient in multi-workloads.
Intel will also increase the 15W power used in U-series chips. Lunar Lake series processors will need 17W power. Processors will also support up to 30W of boost for additional performance.
Performance tests on Cinebench R23 and Geekbench 5.4.5 showed that Lunar Lake scored about 1.5 times higher than Meteor Lake. This means that Intel is about to experience one of the biggest leaps in mobile processors. Lunar Lake-U models are expected to power productivity-oriented laptops.
