iOS 16.3 coming next week: Here is what’s new

Ana sayfa / News

The iOS 16.3 update, which has been beta tested by Apple for a long time, is coming soon. The update seems to focus more on bug fixes. No clear date was given for the iOS 16.3 update. It was just announced that it will be sent to all supported iPhones next week. Along with this version, iPadOS 16.3, watchOS 9.3, tvOS 16.3, and macOS 13.2 updates are also expected to arrive.

iOS 16.3 focuses mainly on bug fixes

Compared to iOS 16.2, iOS 16.3 has few new features and focuses mainly on bug fixes. We’ve highlighted a few of iOS 16.3’s new features below.

The only new feature that attracted attention in the beta versions for iOS 16.3 was the added support for physical security keys with FIDO Certificate. The company says the following about this feature, which was introduced to make Apple ID identities more secure: “FIDO Certified security keys are third-party hardware that you can use to verify your identity when you sign in. Physical security keys provide strong protection against phishing and unauthorized access to your account. A physical security key replaces verification codes sent to your devices when you sign in or reset your password.”

Physical security key support, which has been added to iOS as well as iPadOS 16.3 and macOS Ventura 13.2 betas, requires the purchase of specialized hardware. This security infrastructure is not for everyone, but it is a strong alternative for those who want high security and extra protection.

How to add a security key to Apple ID

  1. Open Settings and tap on your profile at the top.
  2. Go to Password & Security.
  3. Scroll down to find “Add Security Keys.”
  4. On the next screen, tap on “Add Security Keys” and follow the onscreen instructions.
