Apple has rolled out iOS 17.4 and iPadOS 17.4 updates that will dramatically change its ecosystem. Some important innovations that will be valid for the European Union region prevent the App Store from becoming a monopoly. So how will iOS 17.4 affect Turkey? Here are all the innovations.
What’s new with iOS 17.4?
For European users, the iOS 17.4 update paves the way for support for alternative app markets, third-party payment systems and alternative browser engines on iPhone. This change will make it possible to install apps from outside the App Store.
Users will now be able to discover non-Apple app stores and move towards a more open ecosystem. However, let us remind you that these features will only be valid for the EU, meaning that only the App Store will continue to exist in our country.
iOS 17.4 also has some important innovations globally. Apple has made significant improvements to its gaming apps, bringing big benefits to gaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce NOW. In addition, mini-games, chatbots and add-ons can now use in-app purchases.
Here are the iOS 17.4 release notes:
Emoji
- New mushroom, phoenix, lemon, broken chain and bobble head emoji are now available on the emoji keyboard
- Added 18 person and body emojis, confrontation option in both directions
Apple Podcast
- Transcripts allow you to follow a chapter with highlighted text in English, Spanish, French and German synchronized with the audio
- The full chapter text can be read, a word or phrase can be searched, tapped to play from a specific point, and used with accessibility features such as Text Size, Increase Contrast and VoiceOver
In addition, iOS 17.4 addresses various issues. Users will now be able to add specific songs directly to Apple Music playlists and libraries, including Apple Music Classic. Siri will have the ability to voice incoming messages in supported languages.
The update also brings major improvements to battery health. iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro users will now be able to view the number of battery cycles, date of manufacture, and date of first use.
