iOS 26 introduces a new feature to help users with battery life. This setting allows you to manage the brightness of the Always-On display to help your iPhone battery last all day.
How does the new iOS 26 battery life setting work?
Apple added this new option, called “Minimum Display Brightness,” to iOS 26. This feature reduces the brightness even further below the standard minimum level when in Always-On display mode. This way, your phone consumes less power when you’re not actively using it.

Users can access this new setting via Settings > Display & Brightness > Always-On Display. You can start using the feature by activating the “Minimum Display Brightness” option in this section.
This setting is especially ideal for users who don’t use their phones very often during the day but prefer to keep the screen on to see notifications and the time. Dimming the screen brightness significantly reduces battery consumption and extends its lifespan. When you turn the setting off, the screen returns to its default Always-On brightness.
The models that will support this feature are as follows:
- iPhone 17
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
- iPhone Air
- iPhone 16 series
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
