Following the release of iOS 26.1 open beta for iPhone users, Apple has now released the first open betas of iPadOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, and other software. These updates also bring new features and improvements. Here are the details.
What’s New in iPadOS 26.1 and tvOS 26.1
Throughout the year, Apple offers users early access to new versions through its open beta software program. If you’ve participated in this program before, make sure your devices are still set to receive beta updates. New versions will automatically appear in the Software Update screen in Settings.

One of the biggest innovations in Apple’s latest open betas is the expansion of language support for its Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence system. AI is now available in eight new languages:
- Danish
- Dutch
- Norwegian
- Portuguese (Portugal)
- Swedish
- Turkish
- Traditional Chinese
- Vietnamese
Other features included in the new updates include:
- Apple Music: A new swipe gesture has been added to the Mini Player in the iPad app to switch between songs.
- Safari: The Downloads window has been moved to a pop-up window that opens in the middle of the screen.
- Calendar: All events in the Calendar app’s List view are now displayed with full-width, colorful designs.
- Photos: A new and improved playbar has been added to the Photos app for videos.
- Phone: The Phone app, coming to iPads with iPadOS 26, has added a new “Liquid Glass” design to the keypad.
It’s important to note that these updates are still in early beta, and we may see more new features and improvements in future beta versions.
